I sat across from her, a bit nervous and unsure. I'd only been serving in deliverance for about a month.
She recounted a powerful testimony of strength and resilience in the face of tragedy. As we continued, I realized that she was homeless. She didn't know where she'd go on that cold, December evening. She just knew that she was desperate for freedom, and she needed to be in that room.
I drove home that night forever changed. It was the night I realized that the stories of each of our clients would become pieces of our own - molding and weaving together, changing our perception of reality, the world, and our God. I knew that Deliverance was a journey from which I'd never fully emerge.
That was three years ago. For four years, I've watched her learn and grow. I've walked alongside of her and cheered her on.
Things came full circle almost three years after our first meeting when she came for more deliverance. We first stepped into that room a bit nervous and unsure, but this time, we gathered as Warriors, powerful women of God prepared for battle.
We had been wrestling with the head demon for a while. She was on her knees coughing and gagging.
I called upon the Warring Angels, but it was relentless. Finally, I said to her, "Friend, you have to take authority. I can't command anything else. This is your battle. You have to fight."
I sat back and began to pray in the Spirit, and I watched an incredible scene unfold. At first, gasping through the coughs, she began speaking in Tongues. It started as a broken whisper, then it rose into an authoritative declaration, and then finally, a mighty roar broke out.
From her chest, the Lion of Judah exploded out and devoured that serpent she'd been wrestling with. A strength that reverberated in the atmosphere.
She continued praying in the Spirit as a stillness settled around us, and then, she began interpreting her own words, a seal from the Heavenly Father.
I just sat back and watched in awe of our God who taught me the depth of His love as He continually went after her time after time until she was finally free...
She needed me that day three years ago, but I needed her, too. I am forever changed for having encountered her story. It is an honor to have been given permission to share her anonymous testimony with the world. Let it be a reminder that the Lion of Judah resides in each of us. He WILL champion every battle, and He'll love us to our core in the process.
